This 1901 Philadelphia minted Morgan Dollar graded choice MS64 by NGC is by any standards a handsome Morgan. This particular coin is very well-struck and boasts a pristine cartwheel shine that shimmers from the original mint luster. The blemish-free surfaces have a wonderful velvety appearance and the smooth fields are enhanced by a soft-plum hue that accentuates the beauty of the coin's design.

Though over 6 million Morgan Dollars were produced at the Philadelphia mintage in 1901, very few high-end specimens remain. Most were lost to circulation or melted down in the massive bullion melts of the 1930s. The Morgan being offered in this auction is one of the finest 17 surviving examples of this mintage to be graded by NGC.
