This is for a stunning guilloche enamel cigarette case by the master enameller Louis Kuppenheim. The scene is beautiful, it shows misty mountainside view of the Scottish Highlands with a Capercaillie in the foreground calling from a tree branch. The enamelling is magnificent, i have tried to get it in the photos but it really is fabulous, the base is engine turned silver and it has been built up in layers with the most beautiful opalescent finish that creates the morning light in the mist. The capercaillie on the branch has an almost 3D feel to it standing out from the rest of the case. Kuppenheim was considered one of the finest enamellers of his age and the case is testament to this, it is in absolute excellent condition with no damage to it anywhere, there are no chips or cracks nor have there been any repairs or re-enamelling, it is totally original. Inside the case has been gilded and has its little elastic restraint strap in place. The hallmarks at the top show the German silver marks and Kuppenheims little LK mark to the left. It measures 86mm x 80mm. Please check out all the other art deco and art nouveau items along with all the other antique smoking and writing implements and vintage ladies and gentlemans accessories I am selling on ebay this week. I will always combine shipping to make it cheap to buy a lot.
