Karen Morrow "SELLING OF THE PRESIDENT" Tryout '72 FLOP

I'm currently listing a large number of playbills from out-of-town tryouts prior to the Broadway runs. Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York ....... This is a rare February 1972 playbill from the out-of-town tryout of the BOB JAMES, JACK O'BRIEN and STUART HAMPLE musical flop "THE SELLING OF THE PRESIDENT" at the Shubert Theatre in Philadelphia. (The production would open March 22nd, 1972 at the Sam S. Shubert Theatre in New York City and close after only five performances.) ..... The musical starred PAT HINGLE and featured KAREN MORROW, BARBARA BARRIE, ROBERT DARNELL, JOHN GLOVER (Broadway debut), HOWARD ST. JOHN (replaced in Philadelphia by ROBERT FITZSIMMONS), JOHNNY OLSON, RICK ATWELL, BRYANT BAKER (whose role would be eliminated during tryouts), JAMIE CARR, PI DOUGLASS, SUELLEN ESTEY, TASHA THOMAS (replaced out-of-town by DELORES HALL), PAMELA MYERS, TIM NOBLE, TRINA PARKS, SHEILAH RAE, STEVE SCHOCHET, ARTHUR SCHWARTZ (whose role would be eliminated during tryouts), DEBORAH ST. DARR, PHILIP MICHAEL THOMAS, VILMA VACCARO and PAM ZARIT ..... LIVINGSTON was credited with staging the production in the out-of-town tryouts and during previews, but his name was removed from the Broadway playbill.) .....
