A reserve price is the minimum price the seller will accept. This price is hidden from bidders. To win, a bidder must have the highest bid and have met or exceeded the reserve price.
Sterling Porringer with Keyhole decor handle Engraved D.D.A. A.M.A.
Offered at auction is a sterling porringer manufactured by Gorham. This piece is in good condition with only the usual use and /or storage scratches associated with estate sterling. There is a small rippled dent on the right side close to the handle.
There is a cryptic engraving on the front right suggesting that the monograms were added at different times. The font styles are slightly different.
This piece measures approximately 4 1/2 inches round with a 2 1/4 inch handle and stands approximately 1 1/2 inches tall. It weighs in at 114 grams.
Please view the pictures carefully. They have not been Photo-shopped or doctored in any way and show the actual condition of this wonderful piece.
When it is safely possible, I try to combine shipments to save on postage and packaging requirements. There are some instances where that may not be possible, so if you have won more than one auction, please wait until you receive an invoice from me.
As always, shipping amounts are estimates only and I always refund any overages that may occur.
I try to fully and faithfully disclose any irregularities I find but I am far from perfect and some things may escape my detection. When damage (no matter how minute) I try to make sure that it is clearly depicted in the photos. Also, while I thoroughly wash and hand-polish every piece of sterling that I sell, I do not have the time or the inclination to get out a toothbrush and clean every little nook and cranny of the more intricate designs unless build-up or tarnish is excessive.
I believe that I have described the above auction offering accurately and in detail. Please consult the photographs or Email me with any questions.
My word is my bond. If you are unhappy with your purchase, please contact me within 3 business days to arrange return and a refund of your purchase price. Shipping charges are not refundable.
The sterling that I am currently listing are not my property and as such, I am unable to make a 'deal' or entertain a 'Best Offer' scenario. They belong to a friend who is in the precious metals business. He has a warehouse that is stockpiled with sterling items that he has purchased over the last 28 years of business, including more than 100 different silver flatware sets. With the soaring price of silver, he had decided to send them all to the smelter to be melted down.
Instead, I convinced him to let me try to offer them on Ebay so that they would not be destroyed. I know that there are silver lovers out there that wish to harken back to the days of genteel dining and gracious living. Besides, I have come to genuinely appreciate anything that is older than me and still survives.
Ebay has this inane policy that forbids me from listing the patterns that I currently have available. So if you are looking for a particular pattern or piece... please feel free to contact me at
ceegeekase @ aol.com (remember to close up the spaces around the @ mark - this is to foil the spam-bots that cruise Ebay for Email addresses)
Due to recent complications with International bidders and shipping policies, I will only ship via Express Mail International with full insurance. I WILL NOT alter the final bid price on the required customs forms.
