This item is for a live and install Knoppix CD. It will allow you to both boot straight off the CD into the Knoppix desktop without touching your hard drive or interfering with your current operating system, or you can use the CD to install Knoppix on your hard drive! KNOPPIX is a bootable Live system on CD, consisting of a representative collection of GNU/Linux software, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, SCSI and USB devices and other peripherals. KNOPPIX can be used as a productive Linux system for the desktop, educational CD, rescue system, or adapted and used as a platform for commercial software product demos. It is not necessary to install anything on a hard disk. Due to on-the-fly decompression, the CD can have up to 2 GB of executable software installed on it. Knoppix comes with OPENOFFICE, which is COMPLETELY COMPATIBLE with MICROSOFT OFFICE allowing you KEEP all your MS WORD DOCUMENTS, ICEWEASEL, A WEB BROWSER BASED ON FIREFOX, which SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCES VIRUS ENCOUNTERS, WEB FORGERY and SPYWARE, GIMP PHOTO EDITING PROGRAM, which allows pictures to be edited and improved to your liking, and PIDGIN, which is COMPLETELY COMPATIBLE with EVERY INSTANT MESSENGER commonly used.
