Up for bids is a Korean War, possibly early Vietnam used, US Army/USMC M1 Helmet with OD twill helmet cover, a WW2 era rear seam shell, clip on chin straps with OD painted hardware, and a 1951 dated CAPAC Liner. The cover is in excellent condition with just a few small spot of light discoloration and a couple of pin holes in the rim area. The shell is a WW2 rear seam with a later overpaint, but the cork finish is still present under the paint. The shell has an area in the rear in light green paint where someone painted what appears to be a target- this appears to be period done and is very subtle, and gives the helmet character. No dents, cracks, or similar damage are present on the shell. The chin straps look great with just some typical finish loss in areas to the OD finish. The liner has the 38th Infantry Divison emblem painted on either side, with the pictured side being at about 85%, and the other side being at about 55% with most loss at the top of the emblem. The liner is double marked CAPAC and Westinghouse; the CAPAC symbol bears a '51 dated, and along with the Westinghouse symbol it is marked D36. The webbing is OD7 HBT and there is a small tear by the front A Washer, but it is still sturdy. The sweatband is '53 dated, and looks great with some wear to the edges of the leather, but no leather loss. The sweatband is also named to a P. O'Neil. This would be a great addition to any M1 Helmet collection.
