Kyohei Inukai Original Signed Serigraph - 1980

Kyohei Inukai, currently resides in New York City but was born in Chicago in 1913. He studied art at the Chicago Art Institute, the National Academy of Design and the prestigious Art Students League in New York City.

The artist is considered to be an abstract pattern painter who uses bright color with a touch of Miro-like fantasy as in this current offering. He has worked in a variety of styles from expressionism to constructivism and hard-edged geometric abstraction. A printmaker, sculptor and Haiku poet, as well as a painter, Inukai is also a sculptor. His works can be found in the Portland Museum of Art, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Print Club of Albany, as well as the corporate collections of Citibank and Atlantic-Richfield.

This brilliant color serigraph measures 30" by 23". It is pencil signed "Inukai" at the lower right. The print is also editioned in pencil "53/250" at the lower left. On the back, the publisher lists the date of issue as 1980. The piece reminds one of Miro's color and imagery but Inukai is a prominent printmaker in his own right.
