About This Auction
|
This auction is for one (1) box of Doctor Ben's Baby Building Blocs #8890 Assorted Colors. Somewhere in the archives of Hobby-dome there is an article about using a straight-edge and a razor knife to score commercial floor tiles and then break them into pieces to use to build tunnel portals, retaining walls, foundations, sea walls, cut waters, and such. There are two problems with this technique: the first is that today's commercial VCT (vinyl composite tile) has glass in it to make it harder and last longer. Unfortunately, glass dulls razor knives rather quickly, say after you have scored the tile 2-3 times=not good. Secondly, all this is time consuming and let's say that you could process a tile an hour and you make $10 per hour plus the cost of all the razor blades that you ruined scoring a single tile. For $6.49 you could have already purchased this box of BBBs already cut to size and glued them together in that same hour!
Each BBB is about 1/4" x 1/2" x 1/8" thick. For a tight flush fit you can trim the individual times with our Doctor Ben's handy Blade Tool or a pair of side cutters. Gluing is simple: find a brick or something somewhat square to work against and lay down the first row of BBBs up against the brick. Using CA or white glue lay a fine line of glue on the top of the BBBs that are up
against the brick. Now start the second row being sure to stagger the joints (prototype strength). Another line of glue on the second row and so on. That's it!
The above viaduct was constructed by first building a tunnel portal (#9110 at right) and then with an RTV mold cast ten (10) portals and gluing them together.

The colors may vary from the color that you are viewing on this screen due to individual computer monitor color resolutions. We also offer "bulk" purchases for those really BIG jobs. We can also provide custom lengths & widths. Please contact us for a quote on your specific project. Each hinged box contains at least 36 square inches of wall space when our Blocs are stacked flat as shown in the image to the right. It is very easy to assemble them right out of the box for a rustic finish or trim them with our Doctor Ben's Handy Blade Tool for a more neat arrangement. Doctor Ben's Baby Building Blocs are so simple to glue together with most any glue (we use CA) & it's so simple, some consider it child's play - but the unique realism of our original split-granite process will surprise you of home many retaining walls, structure foundations, you name it. And if you would like to cast a mold to make multiples of your BBB masterpiece, simple contact us, & we'll be happy to show you how!! We also offer the Doctor Ben's Baby Building Blocs in various sizes and colors too! Please check our other listings. As Always, If We Please You, Please tell Your Friends. If Not, Please Tell Us!
