After his service in theIt’s a non-stop Red Skelton laughfest when the funnyman gets involved in murder and romance in this classic slap-stick comedy. Red Jones (Skelton), THE FULLER BRUSH MAN, was a failure as a street cleaner and can win his girl, Ann Elliot (Janet Blair), only by proving himself a success in his new career. He starts on a whirlwind door-to-door campaign that pays off with a sale to Mrs. Trist (Hillary Brooke), wife of his former boss, the Sanitation Commissioner. When Red forgets to get paid, he returns in the evening to find himself the prime suspect in the commissioner’s murder. Before the blundering salesman can prove his innocence and find true love, he leads the villains on a knockabout chase that’s filled with Skelton’s inspired lunacy. Civil War, Jeff Waring (John Ireland) swore he would never touch a gun again. He moves West in an attempt to further this former life. But there is a gang of robber barons terrorizing his new home. Will he be man enough to stand up to the injustice, or will her keep his vow to give up violence forever?
