LARGE ANTIQUE TEKKE TURKOMAN MAIN CARPET, West Turkestan, 3rd quarter of the 19th century, and in very good overall condition for the collector. The exact size is: 7'-10" x 11'-6" (239 x 350 cm). A beautiful antique Turkmen tribal furnishing carpet for the home or office decorative environment. Displays nicely drawn elements with spacious main guls and quite unusual minor guls. GREAT wool quality, weave, color, and design. This rich looking carpet has mostly very good pile condition. It shows some low pile areas with foundation peeking through and two finger-size punctures (see close up photos) that can be easily fixed by a competant repair person. Recently found in storage in Turkmenistan. Professionally cleaned. 100% plant-derived, natural, vegetable dyes. There are some minor repilings, but expertly accomplished and not visible to the eye.
