LARGE ANTIQUE NW PERSIAN KURDISH SADDLEBAG FACING, Jaff tribe, old Persian Kurdistan, north and west of Senneh, late 19th/early 20th century, and in thick, full pile, condition. The exact size is: 2'-0" x 2'-6" (61 x 76 cm). Lovely wool quality and excellent original condition characterize this tribal collector item. All of the dye lots are natural and plant derived with the exception of the orange which seems to be non natural in origin. The top loop closure devices are original and complete as are the side cord over-castings (see close up photos). The warps are composed of mostly orange dyed wool and some natural dark brown goat hair (see close up photo). The wefts alternate between rows of madder red dyed wool and natural brown wool.
