You are bidding on a large and rare [MANUSCRIPT] undated Bible Scroll, from the book of Leviticus found by locals in an attic what used to be a synagogue in Morocco with other judaica items. The scroll is Hand written in the original Hebrew Script on soft brown Deer parchment (Gvil) and is approximately 250 yrs old. The scroll has a beautiful warm brown color like scrolls that come from Morocco and are very rare as well. This is due to the deer parchment that is used and the process used in making the scroll. Scrolls of this type are no longer made and the process for making these distinctive scrolls has been lost over the centuries (See Photos on bottom) Scrolls like these are extremely rare and seldom seen in synagogues due to age and is important for its utmost rarity of the earliest examples the Hebrew writings of the Bible. Balak, the King of Moab, summons the prophet Balaam to curse the people of Israel. Balaam attempts to pronounce his curses; each time, blessings issue instead. Balaam also prophecies on the end of the days and the coming of Mosiah. The people fall prey to the charms of the daughters of Moab and are enticed to worship the idol Peor. When a high-ranking Israelite official publicly takes a Midianite princess into a tent, Pinchas kills them both, stopping the plague raging among the people.
Aaron's grandson, Pinchas, is rewarded for his act of zealotry in killing the Shimonite prince Zimri and the Midianite princess: G-d grants him a covenant of peace and the priesthood.
A census of the people counts 601,730 men between the ages of 20 and 60. Moses is instructed on how the Land is to be divided by lottery among the tribes and families of Israel. The five daughters of Zelophehad petition Moses that they be granted the portion of the land belonging to their father, who died without sons; G-d accepts their claim and incorporates it into the Torah's laws of inheritance.
