LARGE RUSSIAN OIL - MOSCOW LANDSCAPE - MUSEUM LISTED

" Bridges & Walls " ( Moscow Landscape - 1919 ): Original oil on wood panel by Boris Golovatchov: From the Moscow series " Bridges & Walls ": image/canvas size: 31 inches by 24 inches ( 78 X 60cm ): signed lower right with the artist's monogram: also signed, dated and titled verso in Russian ( see photo ). Framed by Annex Galleries in a fine custom painted wood: frame size is 27 x 33 1/2 inches.

Boris Golovatchov is a leading member of the Hermitage Group of St. Petersberg, Russia. In the 1960's the group of 8, under the leadership of the late painter and educator, Gregory Dlugach, broke with the classical tradition and social realism of the academic painters of the Hermitage and formed The Hermitage Artistic Association. The groups' progressive oils incorporate rich color with abstract and expressionist elements. Boris Golovatchovs' lively abstracts landscapes draw on the tradition of Cezanne and the early objective landscape oils of Kandinsky. Golovatchovs' thickly painted and richly colored compositions  have greatly influenced and other members of the Hermitage Group.

Boris Golovatchovs' works have been exhibited at The Riverside Art Museum, Colorado State University, The Malibu Community Center, and The Sonoma County Museum of Art. His works are also represented in several important private collections in th U.S. and Russia. Golovatchev and other members of the groups works have been reproduced as popular fine art prints. ( REF: The Los Angeles Times " Out of Obscurity - Eight Russians Who Eschewed Official Decrees ").

NOTE: This work is in overall very good condition ( There is a hairline wide saw cut line running around the perimiter of the oil approx.1/4 inch from the frame edge where it looks like considered cutting the oil down to fit it into a smaller frame/ see close up of the line in my photo of the monogram signature ).

This work is fully guaranteed.
