On ca. 16 1/2”x 11"x 1" layered wood, the type they use to make boats of to resist moisture. Back of icon is unfinished wood. Magnificent colors, details and style, gold leaf, simply stunning, much more beautiful than on the picture here! Hand painted Byzantine style icon by Greek icon artist. This icon is painted using the same techniques of preparation as in original Byzantine times. Cracks and localized missing paints are purposefully incorporated into this work to make it look old. And so it looks old, without appearing to try. The high quality, individualized craftsmanship of this piece is easy to distinguish from the cheap, mass produced imitations flooding the internet market place.
