LEON LOUIS DOLICE NYC CHINATOWN Iron Fire Escapes

 

Fine etching by renowned artist Leon Louis Dolice (1892-1960), signed in pencil “Dolice” lower right beneath impression, framed, under glass.  Artist signature and date (?) appear to be in lower right portion of impression.

According to our research, this etching is entitled either “Chinatown, NY” or “Iron Fire Escapes”.

It depicts a Chinese person in left foreground, of urban street scene with “LUNCH” sign, nice architectural elements, and many iron fire escapes.  This has been carefully stored for years.

Condition: Fine impression on wove paper in fine condition; no tears, creases, foxing, damage, or repairs.

Dimensions of impression: 8” x 9 ½”

Margins: 1 ½” on sides; upper -1 5/8”; lower-2 ¾”

Overall dimensions, incl. black frame: 12” x 15”
