During their famous journey, explorer's LEWIS & CLARK, recorded may new or strange animals. This Journal Page highlights what the explorer's called a CANDLE FISH.
Used by the Chinook Indians found at the lower end of the mighty Columbia River. The fish were dried and stored. When light was needed, the tail was lighted. The oil in the fish burned and served like a "Candle".
