The reason this sampler is in pristine condition is that it was never finished ~ look at the border on the right side and bottom.  According to the person I bought this sampler from, Carolyn Egerton was born in Langdon New Hampshire on April 9th, 1818, to Samuel Egerton and Clarissa King. She married Almon Humphrey on June 9, 1839.

Her colors for this sampler are dark brown/green, rust, cream, and a light green.  She used an embroidery stitch for her flowers and leaves in the border as well as 2 different stitches in her alphabets.  Please note how she ran out of room for her name and had to put the "n" on a line above~!~

I bought the sampler unframed, and had it professional framed on acid free paper in a period looking frame.  The framed size is 18 inches long and 17 inches wide.  It's quite large and will make an impression to your collection.  I believe the sampler is worked in silk on a khaki colored homespun.  My reserve for this piece of Americana is low~ it is a 5 day auction.

I describe each item to the best of my knowlege, sold as is with no returns.

Shipping/insurance for this sampler will be $22.
