SL-AC-10SW A10' AC Cord & Switch: Visit our eBay store to purchase this item by clicking here.
  • UL listed
  • 10 feet long
  • 3 wire cable
  • Molded three prong AC plug
  • ON/OFF switch located 1 foot from the end of the cable.
  • Rated 300 Volts,
  • 105 deg. C,
  • 18 AWG with a center green gound wire.

The cable is easly attached to the power supply using only a screw driver.

The ON/OFF switch makes controlling power to the supply very easy.

How to hook up and run your trains:
To Run Trains on DC power:
  1. Attach an AC grounded power cord to the power supply
  2. Attach 18 guage wires between the supply and our SL-TLC8F DC throllte
  3. Attach wires between the SL-TLC1cv and your track.

This combination provides 200Watts of power and 24VDC PURE LINEAR POWER at 8.3 Amps continuous /15 amps peak. Maximum power supply output voltage can be adjusted from 18.4 to 27.4 Volts DC by turning the adjustment control on the supplys front pannel. (see photo below)

The power supply is perfect for use with our TLC1 Throttle shown above with track clips in our SL-PS200-1-27F&TLC8F SET (visit our eBay store to purcahse this tiem). The +V Adj contol on the font pannel makes this the perfect 8.3 amp 19.5 to 27.4 Volt DC Power supply for DC or DCC (MTS) power.

To Run Trains on Massoth MTS/DDC power:

  1. Attach an AC grounded power cord to the power supply. (see optional cord above)
  2. Attach two wires between the supply and your Massoth DiMAX 800Z DCC central station
  3. Attach wires between the DCC central station or booster and your track. (notice Massoth's cooling fan allowing placement of power supply anywhere)
  4. Plug in the power supply
SL-PS200-1-27 + Massoth DiMAX 800Z = ULTIMATE WIRELESS LGB MTS & DCC TRAIN CONTROL

To Run Trains on Digitrax DDC power:

  1. Attach an AC grounded power cord to the power supply. (see optional cord above)
  2. Attach two wires between the supply and your DCC central station or booster (Massoth DiMAX 800Z shown).
  3. Attach wires between the DCC central station or booster and your track.
  4. Place Digitrax booster or station on power supply so Digitrax heat sink is over fax exaust (this allows colling of Digitrax which has no fan and should have one for 8 amp output)
  5. Plug in the power supply

SL-PS200-1-27F (8.3A) + Digitrax DCS 200 = Wireless DCC Train Control

Questions and Answers:

Q:

Hello, Well this is different, usually I am bidding against you for something made by the late great LGB. My name is also James but, only on paper, otherwise I'm Jim. I've been watching your product line in my endless quest for the electrical domination of my own trains and for clever doo-dads for the trains I custom build for others. Do you have any plans to build a wireless throttle? I use the 10 channel Crest Train Engineer but would much rather use the cheaper orange 1 channel version but pull over an amp and it quits to cool off. The ten channel one is a pain because it shuts itself off if run for 20 minutes without input from the remote. Also and I have no clue why, it loses its programming 3 or 4 times a month, which means I have to get up and walk around to the front of my shop where the receiver is to reset the link. It's not heat, the shop building A/C is set at 60. So, do you have a SIMPLE 10 amp wireless on the drawing board? Just curious, Jim

A:

Jim, yes, I am testing two types of wireless throttles. One is Pure DC for vintage locos that follow LGB requirement of not using PWM (pulse width modulation) on your trains. The other is PWM. I am testing a low cost digital wireless style remote as well as a more deluxe rotary analog or classical style speed control like you find Massoth throttles. I am also testing a version that does both pure DC and PWM as a user preference. I like the Pure DC approach with a rotary speed control on both the wireless throttle and the base station as this allows anyone to easily control the speed at either location or both at the same time. The disadvantage of the Pure DC approach is the heat dissipation and expense of linear output transistors. I use a fan with auto speed control to solve this problem. I can easily address multiple base stations with the wireless remote if this is a requirement and the range is quite good at about 1000 feet outdoors. The pure DC approach and rotary style speed control on the wireless control is preferred by the purists. Its kind of like audiophiles who swear by tube amplifiers and vinyl recordings. +++Thanks for the question James+++

Q:

Hi, can I assume correctly that I can use this power supply with the Aristocraft wireless remote / receiver (10 amp) for my track-powered G scale layout? At the same time, could you give me the cost for shipping one of these to Ottawa, Canada? Thanks, and Best regards, Barry

A:

Yes, I have several customers using this and our 12.5 amp supply with the Aristocraft wireless remote. In addition you can easily adjust the max voltage by the front pannel control on the power supply. This is important as some trains need 18 volts to safely run lights and smoke generators while other require 20, 22 or 24 volts for pulling trains. Shipping to Ottawa Canada is $18.65 +++Thanks for asking James+++

Q:

Q:

I like this power supply. I am using LGB trains, older models with analog sound systems. I need a very good power supply, but I notice this is a 8.3 amp output. I have a 52121 LGB speed control, is this compatible? The 52121 has a max output of 5 amperes. Can I limit the output of the supply or does it matter? I don't feel comfortable putting a fuse between the throttle and the supply. Please email me on ebay Regards, Tom

A:

Tom, I have run the 52121 and other LGB 5 amp throttles from this supply without any problems. In fact I have run these throttles from the 20 amp output of my 800 watt power supply listed on my eBay store. The reason this works well is that these LGB throttles will thermal overload at about 4 amps so you will never get to 5 amps or greater current. In the event of a short circuit this power supply will instantly stop the current even before the LGB throttle has time to thermally over load and cut out. This power supply protects the throttle with its over current protection and the PURE DC output is EXACTLY what LGB recommends for maximum life of your locomotives. You can also use my throttles with this supply as they were designed for this power supply and deliver PURE DC at 8.3 amps continuously without any problems. This is possible due to the auto speed fan that dissipates the heat from the throttle. At 1/2 speed an analog throttle with this supply must dissipate 12 volts X 8.3 amps = 99.6 watts of heat. This is why the LGB throttles, and others, thermally overload and trip out requiring you to reset the power and wait until they cool off. My throttles have huge and expensive heat sinks and a fan directly attached to the heat sink to efficiently remove heat. PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) throttles don't have this problem as they operate in a switched mode but are not recommended for the maximum life of your engines and interfere with some decoders, sound systems and other accessories. PWM throttles are much cheaper to build and sell for far less that PURE DC throttles like the ones I make. I started making throttles because the available DC throttles did not have the power to run my trains without frequently stopping for a cool off and the PWM throttles literally destroyed some of my locomotives and electronics. Please email me at js@ShourtLine.com with any questions and thanks for the question. +++James+++

Q:

How many of the power supplies do you have? I'd like to buy two but e-bay only showsa one. Thanks Ray

A:

Ray, Just let me know how many you want and I will put them up for sale on my eBay store or email me any questions at js@ShourtLine.com Thanks for asking +++James+++

Q:

I have the Playmobil western train set. Do you have a compatible controller to run the train outside? It is the one with metal LGB tracks. Thanks Tim

A:

Yes, check out my eBay store or email me with any questions at js@ShourtLine.com Thanks for asking +++James+++

Q:

How much will it cost to send this item to Alberta,Canada

A:

Cost to mail to Alberta Canada is $19.90 + $2.05 insurance. Thanks for asking +++James+++
