This is a
vintage article that was originally bound with many other unrelated
scientific articles into one large book. In this case, the original book
was broken or wrecked at some point, so the remaining articles were
removed and stapled into individual paper covers. Articles like this are
often overlooked by those who might find it of interest; and when it is
located, the whole book and all the unrelated articles must be purchased
as one.
This complete
original article is from a U.S. government report called The Annual
Report of the Smithsonian Institution for the year 1903. It has 19 pages of text, numbered
727-746; illustrated with 7 plates of 9 b&w photos.
The author was a
Buriat by birth and a Lamaist by religion, a pilgrim who journeyed to
Lhasa and stayed for a year in Mongol monasteries and visiting the
Nakchu monastery and others. Discusses Asia, India, Buddhism, culture
and religion, geography and the land, Nepal and other cities. Photos
show: several views of Lhasa, Mount Marbori and the Palace of the
Dalai-lama, views of Potala, palace of the Old King of Tibet, and the
Galdagn and Tashi-Lhumpo monasteries.
(Tibet,
China, India, Asia, Religion, Lamaism, Buddhists, Culture, Travel,
Exploration, Geography, Memoirs, Sociology, History, Antiquarian Books, Paper and Ephemera).
Measures
6 by 9 inches; very minimal wear, small pencil note on back cover.
