Original Little Jocko Musical tin toy mechanical bank. This bank was made by the Ferdinand Strauss Corporation of New York City, New York. The bank dates circa 1910 to 1915 or so. The bank is in working condition & still plays music. When the crank is turned the monkey goes around in a circle & music plays. Occasionally the wire that the monkey stands on slips a little bit off of some internal part that connects with the music mechanism inside of the bank.

When this happens & you turn the crank there is no music. But, this is easily corrected by manually turning the monkey on the wire by hand in a clockwise direction. This causes the monkey to hook up again inside. Then you can turn the crank & the monkey turns & the music plays.

The bank measures 7 1/2" tall from the bottom of the feet to the top of the monkey. The bank measures 6 1/2" long across the top by 4 1/4" deep. The bank shows wear, scratches, scuffs, bends, dirt, soiling, & some rust spots. The bank has an appearance like it might clean up somewhat. But, we will leave that potential option up to the buyer.

The handle which turns to make the music is all original. The trap underneath the bank is original. But, the trap has had a minor expert repair to the lock mechanism on the inside of the trap to get the trap to lock correctly.

The cup is an expert professionally made tin replacement which was made to the exact correct size, correct colors, & precise correct measurements of the original. The monkey is an expert professionally made lead replacement of superb detail & correct size, shape, & correct colors of the original. These replacement components are so superbly made that even the most advanced collectors will have a challenge in telling these replacement components apart from the original components.

It is rare to find one of the illusive Little Jocko Musical Banks banks for sale in any condition. As far as Little Jocko Banks go this would be considered a decent example even with the restoration since the restoration to the pieces on this bank is so expertly done.
