What is Outdoor Light Deprivation (OLD)?
OLD is typically defined as a depression caused by lack of sunlight due to geography and extended periods of time indoors. One manifestation of OLD is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

What are the general specifications of the unit?
The system has four high intensity lamps which are activated when the doors are opened. The Living Sunshine is 27 3/4" high, 10 1/2" wide, and 3 3/4" deep and comes in the color of white. Living Sunshine light output is 10,000 LUX at 20".

What are typical outdoor levels of sunlight?
Midday high light levels are measured in units of light called "Lux", and can be as much as 100,000 Lux. Morning and evening light is approximately 30,000 lux.

How long should a person be exposed to the Living Sunshine?
The Minimum Duration is an Uninterrupted Half Hour per Day at 10,000 Lux.

Is there any UV Light that could harm a person or can a person overdo it?
It is not likely that a person could over expose themselves to the light. The device produces practically no UV, and the lamp shield will block any incidental UV light that may be produced. Persons with extra sensitive skin may want to start with short exposures and work up the time exposed if irritation occurs. Those using antibiotics should consult their physician as they would do in spending more time outdoors.
