A Word on Purchasing Lladro Figurines:
To many of us who collect Lladro, these figurines are more than an investment. They provide a unique insight into the beauty that can only be attained by the labor of countless artisans who skillfully bring to life the joys of everyday life and the wonders of fantasy. However since we do not live in a perfect world as depicted by these figurines, it is important for you to know how to determine a genuine Lladro and not settle for a repaired or damaged piece. Lladro figurines do not come with a certificate of authenticity. Lladro was incorporated in 1953 and since 1971 authentication is determined by the full blue Lladro and tulip logo on the bottom of the piece. If this logo is scratched or the tulip is removed, this means that the piece is not first quality. More than likely it has some small imperfection, a problem with the finish, or a repair. The perfection of the piece is so critical that a missing or chipped flower can have a significant impact on its original value. The other authentication marks are the artist markings and the mold number, which are also etched on the bottom of the piece. Pieces made prior to 1971 and very old vintage pieces will not have the Lladro and tulip logo. Many had the name Lladro etched into the bottom of the piece. Some with “made in Spain” also etched into the piece and others without. To determine the value of these vintage pieces we recommend you refer to a Lladro Authorized Reference Guide. These treasures are meant to be lovingly kept and bring beauty into our lives for many years. This is an investment that deserves getting the highest quality and not settling for second best.
