Presented for sale is a stunningly beautiful Longines Art Deco 14 carat solid rose gold watch with three genuine diamonds set into the gorgeous dial. This vintage watch has a strong and beautiful Art Deco design; an item of utility that has been turned into a delightful and eye catching piece of jewellery. Longines, in my opinion, excelled more than any other watchmaker in producing some of the most beautiful and stylish watches during the 1940's and 1950's; this one is one of their finest. Manufactured sixty seven years ago in 1942, this watch is still in fabulous condition . The movement has just been oiled and adjusted so it is is running perfectly and keeping time. Also fitted with a new leather strap this watch is ready to wear. Signed in three places, on the dial, case and movement, as with all of my watches, authenticity is backed by a full money refund guarantee. Although originally manufactured as a gents dress watch it is probably more suitable for a lady as fashions and tastes have changed over the last sixty years or so when gentlemens' watches were much smaller in size. In fact some of the tasteless watches that are produced for men today are as heavy and as large as the pocket watches that started to go out of fashion towards the end of the 1920's.

In great condition the 14 carat solid rose gold rectangular case has hooded lugs. There are the expected light signs of careful use over the years but nothing of significance that I could see to draw to your attention. The inside of the rear cover is Longines signed and hallmarked as 14K solid gold. The case measures 22mm across, excluding the crown and 30mm from lug to lug. There is a presentation engraving on the rear cover. The condition of the dial is mint having just been restored with an eye catching satin silver finish, complementing perfectly the three genuine diamonds set into the dial to mark quarter hours and white gold coloured dots marking the other hour positions. A subsidiary seconds dial is located just above the 6 o'clock position. The gold coloured hands are in great shape and the crystal is clean and clear. The Longines 8LN caliber movement has 17 jewels set in solid gold casings. The movement just been oiled and adjusted so the mechanism is running strongly and keeping time. The movement number is 6483163 dating the watch to 1942. The watch is fitted with a new black leather strap which complements the style and elegance of the watch perfectly. Please note that the buckle is a hard to source rose gold hue which matches the hue of the case very well. This model is among the most beautiful produced by Longines watches that I have come across. It will make a good investment but it is a really is such a lovely dress watch that is ought to be worn on those special occasions. Do not miss the opportunity to bid on this fabulous timepiece. Longines is one of the few famous 19th century watchmakers still producing watches today. The founders of this company started up in 1833 and the Longines trademark was first used in 1866. Longines was the first to have been classified at one or other of the four government observatories and the company won many awards for the accuracy of their watches. At the time the watch I have for sale was manufactured Longines watches had been used to time the majority of world's records in major sporting events. Practically all of the great pioneer flights were navigated with Longines watches, including the famous Lindbergh flight in 1927. The Lindbergh aviation watch produced in 1933 was based on Lindbergh's own design.

I warrant that the watch you purchase is as described in the listing and I will provide you with a full refund, including postage or undertake any repairs that are necessary, if it differs significantly from the description. I pack my watches very well but very occasionally a watch may be roughly treated in transit which, as many vintage watches are not shock proof, can affect performance. If a fault has developed with your watch in transit to you please do not take your watch to your own watchmaker without first agreeing this with me. I have all of my watches professionally checked before sale and test them for smooth operation and timekeeping prior to listing. I have them serviced and have any other work that is required carried out if they are not running smoothly and keeping reasonable time. If I have not stated that the watch has been serviced you may wish to have this work done within a few months of purchase, particularly if you intend to wear the watch on a daily basis. On request, I can provide you with details of independent watchmakers to whom you can send your watch for servicing. As with any used mechanical item, a fault can unexpectedly develop at any time and although I do not warrant the watch against future faults I will always try to help you, including sourcing parts at any time. I have helped people who have contacted me several years after they have purchased a watch from me. I provide comprehensive details of my watches, including very clear photographs taken with a high resolution macro lens which shows detail not visible to the naked eye. I also invite you to ask questions if there is anything else you need to know. Do please bear in mind that your watch has been used so will not be as new. Also please take care to consider the dimensions of the watch case as if it is a gentlemens’ vintage watch; they were often made smaller than contemporary watches, particularly Art Deco style watches with rectangular cases.
