| LOVE IS TRUTH Mixed Media Collage signed by artist numbered only 20 This is a 11x17 inch mixed media digital collage printed on bright white acid free card stock. There is hand drawn elements on each print. There are only 20 prints in this addition each one signed and numbered. It includes my own photography, my paintings as well as my painted canvas textures, all of which were assembled in digital imaging software. It is an image of an original oil painting of a wise oldern woman listening to the wind, to her heart and soul. I have also incorporated some of my abstract paintings and drawings. If you look closely there is drawings from Leonardo Davinci mixed in. To pull it all together I used some textured splashes that I created on canvas. The result is an expressive image that transports one to peace and quiet. A dream, the distant memories of age and time. As a creative I enjoy exploring all the variety of meduims avaliable to me and each give me a different perspective and an advantage. I have enjoyed the ebay oportunity to do my art and meet the customers that i have sold my work to. There insight is valuable and treasured. Each one of my paintings are completely original work. I do what moves and inspires me and it is comforting that art admirers and collectors "get " what I am doing. It has evolved into a morning routine. I take a cup of coffee up to my messy little studio, my dog lays at my feet and my cat watches me mix paint and off I go (occasionally she walk over a wet painting and i have discovered dried cat prints). I try to be done by noon so that i can teach design and illustration at an art college. For artist all over it new and exciting to go straight to my audience. Some think I am stupid for sellin my work so cheap. It kept me from ebay for a few years. Not long ago I thought i would try it. I have found my customers are the greatest, they have given me so much confidence and warm positive comments. It got me to thinking, each person that has bought my work is building a base. One by one they are investing in my future as an artist and their investment in their painting. It is my goal to continue to broaden my name and become more well known. I think that each person that buys my art is kinda like my art agent. We some how work together and over time my work, will become more valuable and really become an investment. I have gotten some great tips and wonderful comments. I welcome them all! Just a little note for any that stop by and visit (c: I have printed only 10 of them. This is not something that could be bought from an poster store or order book, where thousands are printed. Only 10 will be printed and the addition will be over. When an edition is sold out it becomes more valuable. I did a print for the N.W.T.Wild Life Federation. As I explore my options as an artist I am opening up or rather seeing opourtunities. The style is a new medium it is contemporary and organic with earth tone browns and reds. Laurelle Macy grew up on a farm in northern Canada. Endless in its dimensions, untamed in its spirit, curious in its isolation, to Laurelle it is this and more. It is the stuff of passion, of creation, of timeless inspiration. Macy’s relationship with the land and its people is a seasoned one. Raised in a series of bush camps, Indian reservations and boom towns in Canada’s North West Territories, Macy understood early on, that her paintings could act as windows to a world little seen by others, but well known and loved by her. Laurelle first obtained her Associates in Adverting Design. She worked as a graphic designer before moving on to get her Bachelors in art at Brigham Young University. After returning to the north Laurelle enjoyed success in a number of galleries, festival and commissions. Her and her family moved to Utah where she completed her master’s degree at the University of Idaho and has been actively involved in advanced design education at the college level. Laurelle’s major talent lies in her portrayal of what she calls “living” material. The centerpieces of her artwork are native people, landscapes, and wildlife, all arrestingly “alive” in her paintings. Macy’s refinement of detail is engaging and her love of color apparent, at times immediate and aggressive, at others subtle and leading. Macy experience with color and composition seems to reflect the very personality of her subjects. To see her paintings and feel somehow touched by an open genuine spirit. This singular connection between the viewer and the subject is Macy’s desire. To paint the west, its people, animals and its landscape with compassion and insight, she hopes is her success. Laurelle Macy’s work has been shown in galleries across Northern Canada and in select studios in Utah. In addition to her work, Macy is faculty at the SLC Art Institute, has illustrated children’s books, portrait painter and is a 3 time grant recipient celebrating northern native people. Her diverse career, where she worked along side Dene Nation elders and Inuit carvers, to the cutting edge world of graphic design gives her tremendous understanding and perspective. An artist of unquestionable talent with yet untapped potential. Macy is certainly someone to watch for. |
