BREWSTER, AN EARLY CIRCA 1907 DING-TOED GERMAN TEDDY!
This is Brewster, an adorable early German teddy bear of unknown make. He is a very high quality bear and could be either a Steiff or a Bing. Brewster measures 12" tall, is fully jointed, filled with excelsior (wood shavings), has black shoe-button eyes, a black floss nose and mouth. This cutie has such a sweet look to him! He is ding-toed as seen in his standing photo! He has a long pronounced snout, hump on his back, very appealing high shoulders, curved paws, and feet that point at the tips. He has chunky arms with fat paws that have four claws on each. His claws on his right paw have faded to a lighter color, but the claws are original on both paws. His feet also have four original claws on each. Additionally, his pads on feet and paws are original and in good condition (only a tiny pinhole of right foot/paw pad). Brewster retains approx. 75% of his beige mohair, which has faded from time (brighter gold at the joints). His mohair is evenly distributed except for his snout/forehead area where he must have had his share of kisses over the years. There is also some thinning to his right paw and the back side of his right leg as seen in my photos. He is in good overall condition with strong fabric backing and no damage or odors. Brewster is wearing a sweet antique black velvet jumper that he will wear to his new home. This beautiful, early teddy is being offered at no reserve—don’t
miss him!

On May-15-08 at 19:44:16 PDT, seller added the following information:NOTE: The more I look at this sweet bear, I am starting to think he could possibly be an early American Ideal bear because of his pointed feet, high shoulders, head shape, and long snout. After looking through my reference books, I'm thinking that might be the case. Either way, I can't say for sure, but I can tell you that this bear is of high quality and was made by one of the great bear makers of the early 1900s. You can be the judge from his pictures. Sorry for any confusion!
