Our cds are sometime marked in some way by the supplier, either with a hole punch through the bar code, a cut through a side of the jewel case or a pen mark on the package itself. These marks do not in any way affect the play ability of the cd. I replace any jewel case with major damage (i.e. major cracks, broken ears, etc.). All cover art is present unless otherwise noted. LYSA ROCKS!!!!!
She's been compared to so many female vocalists, the comparisons have
become meaningless. Lysa Flores creates...with words, with music, with
her voice...images and moods that surround us. Lots of people will know
and love "Beg, Borrow and Steal" from the Star Maps soundtrack - it has
an open-hearted, lusty sentimentality that makes me believe in love.
But other songs are just as great if not better - "Queen of the
Boulevard" brings a girl driving solo through the mean streets of L.A.
to the whole world; "Tree of Hope" evokes Chican@ heroes Diego and
Frida in a tragically happy folk dance. Lysa doesn't fit into any
category - she is the future of music.

ROLLING STONE BIO For Immediate Release: East L.A. native Lysa Flores returns with her
second solo release The Making of a Trophy Grrl, a post-feminist
collection chronicling the coming of age of a Latina in the southern
California world of Botox and boob jobs. The record features such
luminaries as legendary “X” drummer D.J. Bonebrake and Quetzal Flores
from roots-rockers Queztal (Vanguard Records). Her band has toured with
the likes of Los Lobos, Rage Against the Machine, Victoria Williams,
Ozomatli, El Vez, Green Day, and Mexico’s leading rock group, the
Jaguares. Accompanied by an artwork homage to vintage Mexican
movie-posters, the songs range from the bilingual narrative of a young
immigrant couple’s new world struggles (Novia), power-pop sarcasm (The
Damaged Ones), raw-tender ballads (Light Among Shadows), and romantic
anthems (Birthday, En Que Te Falte). Much of the CD was recorded
live-to-tape, to capture the immediacy of her vocal performances. Lysa
Flores was born and raised in East Los Angeles, a first generation
Mexican-American, and has been a pioneer in the Chicana alternative
scene since her teens. She was named by Newsweek as one of 20 young
Latinos to watch in the new millennium and was featured in John F.
Kennedy's "George" magazine. She has been a member of legendary
performance-artist El Vez's band since 1996, traveling across the globe
to crowds of up to 100,000 people. As a solo artist, she has opened for
the likes of Los Lobos, John Doe of L.A.'s legendary punk-band "X",
Green Day, Victoria Williams, and Mexico's leading rock group, the
Jaguares. In 1997, she landed a starring role in the critically
acclaimed indie-film Star Maps --a favorite at the 1997 Sundance Film
Festival-- and, for this, earned a Best Debut Performance nomination
from the Independent Spirit Awards. She also served as the film's
musical director (which was the first feature film to utilize a track
by folk cult-hero Nick Drake), as well as producing the soundtrack for
Geffen Records. Additionally, she's appeared in the film "Menace"
(1999) with Allison Lohman of "White Oleander" fame, was musical
director for the film "Blink of an Eye" that same year , had a
recurring guest-starring role on the popular telemundo novela "Reyes Y
Rey", and was the lead for the sold-out Hollywood theater production of
"The Furthest Room" , a play based on her songs. She runs her own
record label "Bring Your Love" which has released her bilingual,
street-smart , but literate, folk-punk-- "Tree of Hope" (1998)

independence & love." Newsweek Magazine said she was one of the "20
Latinos to look out for in the year 2000." The Los Angeles Times calls
Tree of Hope "feminist rock at its best!" Tree of Hope(named after a
Frida Kahlo painting) explores biculturalism, love, & social
issues, while exploring Flores's talent as a rockin' guitarist and an
