Here is a beautiful black velvet competiton dress from Six O.   I had this dress custom made to increase the girth measurement a bit (I'm 5'7").  Fabric content is 85% nylon and 15% lycra and dress is in like-new condition.  The skirt is 2-3" longer in the back and the beautiful neckline in back and lovely sheer mesh flowing sleeves make this dress a standout.  The sleeves are slit from the wrist to about the  elbow.   Below is Six O's size chart for a size medium--remember, I had the girth increased by an inch or two:
