Wife of Henry Peterson 1818-91, owner of Saturday Evening Post from 1848-73 and its editor 1846-74. Edited by his wife, Sarah Webb, his firm published Lady's Friend from 1864-74. Fantastic fold out color plates. 11 Fold out color plates. Lacks May color plate. Fantastic stories. All pages are in binding. Also fantastic engravings (black and white). All plates are still in binding. Some pencil writing on front left white plain endpaper (neat). Rubbing and board corners and at hinges, wear to top of spine ½ inch lifted but all attached, delicate. Inside.. just a wonderful collection of stories and poems. Very similar to Godey ladies fashion book. Extremely hard to find the fold out fashion plates still in book. Just a wonderful treasure. The color plates are in wonderful condition. There are some creases from 100’s of years of folding. The colors are still so vibrant and beautiful. The reds, green are just magnificent! The black and white engravings are superb. Clear concise defined composition. Bravo. What a keeper! See pics below… Enjoy!
