Nothing beats the classic rugged sophistication of a Range Rover. This example has flawless Chawton White paintwork over a supple blemish-free Ash Black leather interior and contrasting Granite Grey carpets. It has never been taken off road, except speed bumps at the country club. It has dutifully glided from polo matches to trendy restaurants on Long Island's Gold Coast. It was used gently, and serviced by the dealerships in Rockville, MD and Glen Cove, NY at regular intervals.
The body is straight and the paint is all original except for a the left rear quarter panel. A driver made approximately a 4 inch dent on the driver's side rear quarter panel. (1/08). I had the quarter panel repainted to match and the rear bumper replaced at Land Rover Glen Cove.
Mechanically this vehicle is fabulous. It pulls strong and sounds great. It consistently proves its mettle on road trips to the Hamptons. Engine temperature is consistently perfect, and the head gasket is not leaking whatsoever, unlike many other RR's of this vintage. The air-con works marvelously at all temperatures and settings, as does the heating system. The heater core o-rings are NOT leaking, which is a rare find. The heated front windscreen and rear window are in proper working order. After all, scraping ice off your windshield is for the common folk.
The air suspension has 4 (four) new Arnott Generation 2 bags which were professionally installed. Also, all O-rings in the valve block have been replaced. Operation is flawless and convenient. This surprise and delight feature allows you to lower and raise the ride height for ease of entry and exit, much to the awe of your friends (and drivers of lesser vehicles).
All interior electronics work like a charm. The 300-watt Harman/Kardon audio system with built in amplifier, subwoofer, and 6-cd changer delights the ears, and JAMES navigation acts like a proper butler (complete with British accent) and makes sure you don't get lost en route to the Four Seasons. The only thing that does NOT work is the sunroof, probably due to a clogged drain. However, it does NOT leak. I have not investigated this because it requires removing the headlining, something I do not want to do quite yet.
The only downside is that like most British cars of a certain vintage (my Jaguar Vanden Plas included), the headlining is starting to sag in the rear. A good upholstery shop can replace this for about $200-300 dollars. And while the new headlining is being fitted, it would be an ideal time to get the sunroof sorted out.

- Suspension valve block o-rings replaced (3/08) ($125)
