A FINE ANTIQUE FOLIO MAP FROM THE FIRST EDITION OF:

RICHARD ANDREE'S ALLGEMEINER HAND-ATLAS

SPANIEN UND PORTUGAL

 

Published Leipzig: Verlag con Velhagen & Klasing. 1881. First Edition. This is an original 127 year-old map. We do not sell reproductions of any kind!
Cartographer Richard Andree. Andree was one of the best known cartographers in Europe in the late 19th century. Early editions of The Times Atlas (London) were based on his work. For detailed information, see the Wikipedia article about Andree:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Andree
Size / Format 21" x 16" (54 cm x 41 cm). Double-folio map with centrefold. The map is a high quality chromolithograph printed on very heavy paper -- the heaviest I've seen for a 19th century atlas.
Condition The maps we're selling from this atlas are all in excellent condition. There is no foxing, there are no significant marks, and there are no tears. The maps are sturdy and will stand up well to shipping.
Remarks This map is from an important German Atlas that had influence well beyond Germany's borders. This map from a true first edition, lavishly printed in Leipzig in 1881.
