Large 19c. French Gold Gilt Figural Lady Mantle Clock
A fine and large 1800's French gilded figural mantle clock with a beautiful godess holding a floral wreath and reclining on a urn with flowing wine or water. Very detailed pierced and scroll work throughout the case, including a central plaque of a woman.
The spelter case has its original gold gilt finish, nicely accented with burnished highlights that do not show up very well in the images. The back of the case is signed, "Jouy.S". The usual weak back legs have been reinforced - the work does not show on display.
The working movement is a French 8-day time and strike on a bell on the hour and 1/2 hour.
The porcelain dial is 3" in diameter - minor chips around the winding posts, and it has a faint hairline. Comes with the pendulum and key.
This fine and showy clock comes with its original base and a reproduction dome.
Size of the clock is 19"x 5" x 14" tall. The base and dome is 21" x 9 1/2" x 18" tall.
Please review the images, as they are an important part of the description and condition of the item.
