Description of item for sale: This high quality antique gilt bronze clock is from France and it dates to around 1900. Notice the size-it is much larger than the typical clock of this style. The clock body itself is bronze and all of the trim pieces, including the top Louis XVI ribbon, the corner trim and the feet are gilt bronze. The gilding is in excellent original condition with just the right color and patina. All of the glass panels are beveled. The eight day time and strike clockworks are by Japy Freres. The clock runs very well but there is a problem with the pendulum. The bottom piece of the pendulum is hollow and it should be weighted but the weight is missing. Because of this, the clock runs fast. The clock strikes once on the half-hour and tolls the hours with a beautiful sounding nickel bell. The entire clock is in excellent antique condition with no damage of any significance except the noted problem with the pendulum. Dimensions: 18” tall, 8.5” wide, 6.5“ deep. Weight: 16 lbs (7.3 kg.). Please be sure to check at the bottom of this listing to see if any corrections or answers to questions have been posted.
