Hi and thanks for clicking in.
For your consideration I’m offering this c. 1960’s gargantuan hobnail goblet, or glass, or bowl, or even a vase.
Personally…I’ve never seen anything like this item and recently went on a search for one similar. Unfortunately, to no avail. But I love it anyway and hope you, too, appreciate its beauty. Due to its size and shape – I’ll refer to it as a “Goblet” and let your imagination for uses run with it.
The Goblet, in a cobalt blue, is hand blown and has a flawless large hobnail pattern around the “ballooned cup”. No damage. See picture. The stem is stretched glass leading down to a hefty base with a polished pontil on the bottom.
Whether you’re an admirer of hobnail glass, Shrek, or a complete lush, this item is destined to be yours. Its size is quite large and there is only slight symmetry about the hobnail impression – a good thing, because, for me, it makes it more desirable. There are no chips, scratches, cracks, or stains whatsoever. The maker is unknown to me, but the funky design is truly eye-catching and beautiful in color.
Measurements: 12” in height, 4/ 1/2” in diameter, 5” long stem.
This did belong to my Grandmother, and to quote my Mom, “She really knew her glass.” No, my Grandmother wasn’t an alcoholic, but had a GREAT since of humor and a very strong will. Please take a look at other items from her estate in this auction – she really loved the color blue.
Thanks for looking and have a great day!
