Marvellous old buggy lamp that would probably date to the late 1800’s and has a maker’s medallion marked GOODWIN & CO Birmingham. The lamp would have run on candle power and has a spring-loaded holder for insertion of the candle. The metal casing is quite sound with general marks and small dents consistent with age and use. The front lens is original and the brass gallery supporting the lens is in untouched original condition and hinges freely. The rear hinged door is missing its small red lens. The door has some small dents and is tight to close. The lamp is 53cms tall, the front lens is 18.5cms in diameter, and the lamp weighs 1.7kgs. A sensational original piece that has been unspoilt by any restoration work.
