This auction is for 1 new 4.0 watt, 960nm infrared laser diode in a standard C-mount package. This is made by Spectra Diode Labs (SDL) which is now part of JDS Uniphase. It is model number SDL-6380-A-953/967-A-4.0.
Specifications
Click here for the complete data sheet for the 6300 series from the JDSU web site. There are several different diodes in the 6300 family. Be sure to look at the 6380-A section for the correct data for this part.

Laser diodes in the 910 to 980 nm wavelength range are required as optical pumps for Er+ and Yb+ doped solid-state lasers such as double-clad fiber lasers. These may also be of interest for materials processing such as heating, soldering, micro-welding or burning
As the warning label below shows, a small amount of the beam is emitted from the rear of the diode. This is a fraction of a percent of the total power. A small photodiode placed in this beam can be used to track output power.
WARNING!

-
This laser diode is very sensitive to static electricity and even a tiny zap that you can't feel can instantly destroy this device or degrade it's performance. You should always use a static strap when handling static sensitive devices such as this.
-
This laser diode must be attached to a heat sink if before it is powered. Failure to keep the diode cool will dramatically reduce it's operating lifetime and may permanently damage it. We include a piece of pure indium foil which you should place between the laser diode and it's heat sink for optimum heat conduction.
-
The output of this laser diode is nearly invisible. Don't let this fool you - it is powerful enough to set things on fire and can cause burns and permanent eye damage. You should always wear appropriate safety goggles when working with high power laser devices such as this.

By bidding on this item you agree that you have read and understand the above warnings. This laser diode is brand new but is sold as-is with no warranty.
