The beautiful band box bustle is a reproduction of a ladies walking dress from the late 1800’s. The bodice and underskirt are constructed from periwinkle gabardine with a light stretch and the overskirt is constructed from a 100% cotton whimsical band box fabric in rich blue, burgundy and periwinkle with gold accents and lined with a complimentary 100% cotton burgundy print.
The front fabric inset of the bodice as well as the cuffs are highlighted with the band box and burgundy fabric from the overskirt and are edged with natural eyelet lace and burgundy, rose and green gimp trim that matches the band box fabric. It has a button front closure that uses period correct hand made thread and wood ball buttons that match the periwinkle of the bodice. The bodice is lined with bleached muslin and the peplum is lined with the burgundy print fabric. The button holes are machine made.
The overskirt is fully lined with the burgundy print fabric and the front apron is edged with eyelet lace and gimp trim that matches the bodice.
The underskirt is made of the periwinkle gabardine and is pleated at the rear so that it will fall softly over either a cage or bustle pillow that is not included with this auction. While this is a modern fabric it in no way detracts from the beauty of this ensemble. The fabric has the appearance of a natural fabric; however, we sacrificed a little so that we could find a periwinkle that matched the band box fabric.
The measurements on the garment are bodice bust line 44 inches, base of neck to bottom of bodice 23 inches. Underskirt waistline 36 ½ inches, and waist to hemline at the front of the skirt is 44 inches. The waistline of the overskirt is 38 inches.
Our dresses come to you with a serged edged and ready for hemming. While we will hem any dress for an additional $35. We suggest that you wait until your dress arrives to hem it so that it can be fitted with your underpinnings to insure that your dress is the proper length.
The jewelry and underpinnings shown and used in our auction are from our private collection and are not included in the sale and are not for sale.
If you wish to purchase a bustle pillow, the additional cost is $40.
Paypal is preferred but we will accept cashiers checks or money orders on all sales from the United States. Paypal is required on all international sales. California Sales Tax of 8.25% will be applied to all California sales.
We gladly accept returns on any clean, unworn items with tags as long as the entire ensemble is received. If you return an ensemble and we find that it is missing pieces no refund will be issued. All regular purchases are subject to a 30% resocking fee and all custom orders are subject to a 50% restocking fee.
We charge a packing fee for each sale that includes a NEW box and any necessary packing materials. Some of our costumes are quite large and heavy so if you have any questions regarding our shipping costs, e-mail us and we will be happy to give you an exact breakdown. We will ship USPS, UPS or FEDEX. If you choose USPS we add insurance to the item at no additional cost to you.
We welcome off-shore orders, but please contact us for shipping fees. While we appreciate off-shore orders we will not under any circumstances falsify information on customs documents.
US Orders - If you choose to ship USPS we pay for your insurance. If you choose other shipping methods, insurance in your responsibility and highly recommended.
