506466
Here is another nice Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos. The Atmos is unlike any other clock in the world. Known as the clock that "lives on air", the Atmos is powered by small changes in room temperature - it uses no electricity or batteries, and never needs to be wound. Each is meticulously assembled by hand over several months. This is a nice Caliber 528-8, serial number 506466, which suggests it is from the late-1970s/early-1980s.
This is a more recent Atmos than most, and the case on this looks very nice. Like all Atmos of this color, it is gold plated. There are some minor blemishes, but overall this is an excellent example. Please check the photos and e-mail with questions. The dial is in excellent condition, with "ATMOS" under the 12, and "SWISS MADE" under the 6. These hands have the darkened tips to increase the contrast, and the case features a removable front glass door for access to set the time. The glass is in excellent condition. On the bottom, the model number and manufacturer stamp are clearly visible. See the photos.
This Atmos was just serviced and is in excellent working condition.
- The 15-jeweled movement was removed and cleaned.
- The bellows was replaced.
- The bellows cover was cracked and it was also replaced.
- The timing was calibrated.
After calibration, the timing was measured electronically to be 29.999357 (photo), which represents an accuracy to within 2 seconds per day (perfection would be 30.000000). This is very good, but some adjustment may be needed after setup in your own environment, using the regulator provided on the top of the movement. This model also includes a bubble level, very useful for proper setup. I will include a photo-copy of setup instructions covering leveling, starting, and regulating.
You can read my own notes about how to buy an Atmos clock HERE. If you are looking for a nice Atmos that runs well, this could be it. Check my feedback and buy with confidence.
