LeRoy Walker was a famous track and field coach and administrator. Walker went to Benedict College, where he starred in football, basketball and track. As a NCC track coach Walker developed many outstanding athletes, including Olympic champion and Hall of Famer, hurdler Lee Calhoun. In the 1976 Olympics he was the U.S. men's head coach, the first African-American man to serve in that position. Walker was elected to the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 1987.
