This is the most-impressive, most-generously-illustrated vintage Bible that I have seen, and I have not been able to locate another copy on the internet. It was Published in New York by Bible Publishing House. The most-recent date on the copyright page is 1885, and there is a 1891 inscription on the presentation page; it thus was published between 1885-1891. This Bible measures 12 1/2" x 10 1/2" and is approximately 1600 pages. The binding is full-leather with six raised, decorated panels on the boards; the board edges are beveled. Image #1 below is the center of the front board and image #2 is the top fore-edge corner of the front board. Image #3 is the spine, which is elaborately-decorated in gilt and has five, raised, leather bands. As stated on the spine, there are 2,000 illustrations. This includes twenty-four, full-page wood-engravings by Gustave Dore (e.g., images #6 and #7 below). There are three full-page steel engravings by various artists (e.g., please see image #8 below, "Leah and Rachel"). There are nine, full-page, delicately-colored illustrations (e.g., please see images #4 and #5 below) depicting the Parables of the Bible. There are about twelve, small, color maps, and there are several additional, pages decorated in full-color (e.g., please see image #9 below, "The Lord's Prayer"). The final image below is the beautifully-decorated marriage page. This Bible is in solid Very Good condition. There is some scuffing to the leather, and there is some dampstaining to an area of about two-dozen pages. There are untaped tears to a few pages, and one text page is made from inferior paper. All page edges are gilt, and the two metal clasps at the fore-edge are in good working order (again, please see image #2). This is a family Bible with a relatively small number of entries of the names "Ballda" and "Stradling". This is a Parallel Bible that includes both the Old- and the New Testaments. The New Testament is based on the "...version set forth in 1611" (i.e., The King James version). Also included is a Bible Dictionary, 4,000 Questions and Answers, a History of Each Book of the Bible, etc. In short, this is a very-solid, possibly-unique, beautifully-and generously illustrated, 120-year-old Bible with an elaborate full-leather binding....This Bible will be shipped anywhere in the United States for $4 via Media Mail. International bidding is permitted but discouraged; the package weighs 17 pounds and the shipping cost could be $100 or more, depending on the destination, and the United States Postal Service does not offer insurance to many countries.
