Description:
US Military Ammo Cartridge bag.
Not sure of the time frame. Appears to be from around the Civil War or Indian Wars. Possibly Spanish-American war or may even be as late as WWI.
Has 18 hole wooden block inside for bullets. Not sure of the caliber.
Brass rivets, screws and clasp
Brown leather with embossed "US" on front flap.
Adjustable shoulder strap is APPROX. 50" long
Dimensions:
Measures Approx. 9" x 6" x 3"
Condition:
Definely used. Needs cleaning.
Once cleaned, most probably still usable (great for reenactments!) or a great display piece.
Other:
Special Markings under flap says 15 5 233 (contract number?)
There is also L.S. stamped twice on the inside.
