Pike knew that the Proto-Aryans and the Indo-Aryans were our physical, linguistic and philosophical ancestors; and he knew that the monotheistic Irano-Aryans were our religious, religio-philosophical and spiritual ancestors; and with his transcendent genius he places before our mental vision the habitat, migrations and early pre-historic history of these our ancestors.

These pages show Pike's familiarity with the work of: Anquetil duPerron, Benfey, Bleek (translation of Spiegel), Bopp, Bunsen, Burnouf, Haug, Muir, Muller, Neriosengh, Panini, the Rawlinson brothers, (Sir Henry and Mr. George), Roth, Spiegel, Westergaard, Whitney and Windischmann.

Pike had also written a translation of and commentary on the Hebrew Kabalah. His translation and commentary on the Vedic Hymns, in twenty large volumes, won for him fame as one of the greatest Sanskrit scholars of his period. He well earned the title given him "the greatest living Orientalist".

First Edition - and the only printing ever in hardback!

One of Pike's most famous works.  Truly a rare find, and in excellent condition.  Bound in 3/4 leather with gilt titles and decorative floral endpapers.  Includes exhaustive index and blank dedication page.  340 pages.

Condition:

Fine

Solid binding with no foxing.  Light edge wear and bumping to corners.  Appears to never have been read.  This book, when available, sells for upwards of $3,200 on worldwide book sites, offered here at a fraction of that.  A rare find - one of seven hundred to be exact. 

 No internal markings whatsoever
