JOHN LENNON & YOKO ONO - TWO VIRGINS

1968 UK *STEREO* PRESSING LP

*THE ULTIMATE COLLECTORS PACKAGE*


This, the first of John & Yoko's experimental/avant-garde LPs was released in the UK on November 29 1968. Just 5,000 copies were pressed.
It was the second album to be released on The Beatles' Apple label. EMI manufactured the disc but they refused to distribute it, leaving that job to 'Track Records'
The infamous cover was also manufactured outside the usual EMI/Beatles printers, by a small printing company named 'Technink'.
Whilst the album was stocked by a few retailers, it was also available via mail-order directly from Apple which is how the original owner of this copy obtained it.
As a bonus, Apple also included in the envelope, a promotional banner poster of which I have never seen another.

The package offered here contains exactly what it did the day it was received almost exactly 41 years ago:

  • A UK 1st pressing stereo copy of the LP itself.

  • An original advertising shop display banner poster for the LP measuring 1m x 24cms (39" x 9.5").

  • The original brown paper bag in which the LP was packed.

  • The original LP mailing envelope.


    The LP

    This is a NEAR MINT 1968 1st stereo pressing is on the dark green Apple/Track label: 613012 (SAPCOR 2)
    The 'Sold in UK...' text & 'Track Records' logo are present on both labels.
    There is no tax/price code is visible in the centre of either label.

    The disc is housed in a fully laminated, thin card stock 'Technink' printed cover with the text on the rear panel.
    This copy is complete with its original matt-black, die-cut inner-sleeve.

    An immaculate unblemished set with just a single spindle mark to the side 2 centre hole.

    Visual: 1. NEAR MINT

    Pristine, clean & deep-gloss playing surfaces with no surface scuffs or scratches to either side when viewed in strong, direct daylight.
    Even close examination beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp failed to find anything more than a few barely visible light marks made by storage within the unforgiving matt-black inners.
    Both sides of this incredible copy lie 100% flat on the turntable with no signs or dishing or warping.

    Audio: NEAR MINT

    This pristine copy has been barely, if ever played and sounds 'as new' throughout with no groovewear, ticks, clicks or indeed any perceptible traces of audible wear.
    It will not require upgrading.

    Cover: EXCELLENT

    A really fine example of this fragile and easily blemished cover which retains an excellent 'whiteness' all-round with no discolouration to any area, front or rear.
    The front panel is superb with the only significant blemishes being a tiny 5mm scuff just above the lower edge and a light 5cm scratch across Yoko's knees.
    As with most copies, the laminate has lifted along the front towards the spine, but has not split.

    All corners are sharp & square with no bumps or bruising to any & both opening edges appear completely unworn and undamaged.
    The rear panel is as clean as the front with a slight disc impression but with no laminate lift or separation anywhere.
    Both seams & the unworded spine are completely smooth, unstressed and undamaged.

    Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT PLUS

    Clean & flat with just slight unavoidable storagewear creasing, but no tears or splits anywhere.

    Poster: NEAR MINT

    Having spent all its life within the original mailing envelope, this poster is in the same condition as it was when it left Apple's office 41 years ago.


    It has been folded vertically three times but has never been hung and is free from any kind of wear or tear.

    Brown paper bag & Mailing Envelope

    Unlike in the U.S., this LP was not sold within a brown paper bag in the UK.
    However, the brown paper bag you see above was sent inside the mailing envelope with the LP & poster.
