Lenox
Original Virginian Coffee
Service
For
your consideration, Lenox Coffee
Service, or partial
service. Comprised of the
Coffee Pot, Creamer/Pitcher, six
Cups and Saucers, one handled
serving tray.
If
you are know the Lenox Virginian
pattern, this set will look very
familiar. Undoubtedly,
this set was the precursor to
Virginian which was produced
c.1910. The pieces in this
set carry the early Lenox
Belleek Palette mark which was
used from 1906 to 1926. We
can safely assume this set was
produced by Lenox in the
1906-1909 range.
All
embellishments are hand-painted,
no use of decals anywhere on any
pieces.

This
set is truly a rare find.
That expression is used over and
over on eBay but in this case it
definitely applies.
Unfortunately our artist friend
from Lenox did not sign any
pieces and unless I hear from a knowledgeable
source, the artist will remain anonymous.
My
preference is to keep this
important set together and not
break it up into individual
pieces for sale. Depending
upon the interest, that may be a
consideration in the future.
The
buyer of this set will become
the new caretaker of a
significant piece of Lenox and
American pottery history.
