"Lest we Forget" Australia Post Stamp Pack
This stamp Pack released for ANZAC day includes inside the front cover the full mini sheet and inside rear cover the full set of stamps.
This set of five stamps seeks to capture 'snapshots' of Australia's on Anzac Day, as we commemorate the lives of those that were lost in times of service to their country.
Each of the five stamps includes a line from The Ode (the fourth stanza of the poem For the fallen by Laurence Binyon (1869–1943 along with Kipling’s lines from the Recessional hymn – "Lest we forget") which is synonymous with the spirit and meaning of Anzac Day in Australia. the heavy haulers featured include:
- 50c - Veterans on the March ("They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old")
- 50c - Laying of wreaths ("Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn")
- 50c - Bugler playing the "Last Post" symbolising the final farewell to the dead ("At the going down of the sun")
- 50c - Child and war veteran ("…and in the morning")
- 50c - Contemporary scene of Gallipoli with young people ("We will remember them" "Lest we forget")
