"Alice's Adventures In Wonderland" by Lewis
Carroll(Franklin Library, 1980)Limited Edition
By Lewis
Carroll, an English author, mathematician, logician, Anglican deacon and
photographer! "As he escorted the three young daughters of a colleague on a trip
up the river Isis, Lewis Carroll invented ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, the
story of a little girl who tumbles down a rabbit hole. Full of such wonderfully
eccentric characters as the Queen of Hearts, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the
Cheshire Cat, the Mock Turtle, and the Mad Hatter. The book is simultaneously a
political allegory, a parody of Victorian children's literature, a fairy tale, a
dream, and a child's chronicle of growing up." A fantastic collector's
item!
Book is
beautifully bound in gray leather with all edge gilt text block, decorative
gilt on boards, decorative end pages and a hubbed spine. Book is in VERY
GOOD+ condition and is square and tightly bound with clean, crisp pages
inside. None of the usual edge wear on the boards. The gilt on the spine has
rubbed and faded to the point where it can no longer be easily read. Similar fading on the outside of the front board, though not as severe. Edges of the text block have some blemishing in the gilt. Remains on a front flyleaf of a price written in pencil that an attempt was made to erase. Casual perusal reveals no other inscriptions, stray marks or missing pages. Pages have only very light toning near the edges. Make this incredible book a part of your collection today!
FlatSigned
means HAND SIGNED on the page by the author, not personalized (as in "To Billy")
or signed on an attached sticker or bookplate. A book which has been FlatSigned
is almost always a better investment and is far more desirable than a book that
is personalized or contains a signed sticker/bookplate.
