Nathan Smith Davis was not only founder of the American Medical Association (AMA), he served as its president and was also the founding editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

With SIGNED letter written in the hand of Nathan Smith Davis. First Edition. Illustrated.

193 + [2] pages, bound, with frontispiece, in midnight blue cloth with gilt lettering on spine. Rear hinge is sturdy; however, front hinge is cracked & front cover pulling away with spine cloth. The textblock is square and the pages are clean. 2 inch crack along front joint crease, starting at head; 3 inch crack to front joint crease, with cloth pulling away, starting at foot. Moderate wear to corners. Slight edgewear. Ex-library.

Affixed to front endpage is a letter, in the hand of Davis and on stationary from the "Journal of the American Medical Association," dated "Sept. 15th 1883" and signed "N. S. Davis."
