Its backboard and base are made of highly-durable polyethylene, and its steel rim is equipped with double compression springs that provide spring back action. The three-inch round, weather resistant steel pole comes in three pieces and can be adjusted from a height of 7.5 to 10 feet, in six inch increments. A player can raise and lower the backboard with a broomstick. The base has a 31 gallon holding capacity and rolls easily on its own wheels. When filled with water it weighs 258 pounds and when filled with sand it weighs 448 pounds.

Portable basketball systems depend on a base filled with sand or water for stability. Although it will take up more space than an in-ground system, the portable base rolls on wheels, allowing players to position the basketball system in the desired location (and also allowing storage in a garage).
