Here is a Lionel 225E 2-6-2 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive with 2235W Whistle Tender. The 225E was a mainstay of Lionel‘s line in the late 1930s and early 40s. One of the first of Lionel‘s die cast steamers, the 225E mold was used to make the 675/2025 steam engines of the Postwar era. This locomotive features an operating motor, a reverse unit, and an operating headlight. The tender features a whistle, stamped metal trucks, journals, and a box coupler on the rear.

Completely operable, this piece shows signs of use, with a few scratches along the top and edges of the locomotive shell. There is a slight amount of rust on tender drawbar. The lettering is complete and nice on the tender, and the nameplates are intact and look nice on the locomotive. The roller contact springs and the drum have been replaced for the loco; and the motor and E-unit contacts have been cleaned. The boiler front latch spring is damaged and slightly loose, but the boiler front is intact and looks nice. This item was inspected by both our in-house Lionel Postwar experts and by our Authorized Lionel Service Station and we guarantee this item is completely functional and operable.
