Presented for auction is this Lionel 28011 C&O 2-6-6-6 Allegheny Steam #1601 Engine.  This engine is brand new and has never been taken out of its box, except to be photographed for this listing.  This engine was made by Lionel in 1999.  Greenberg's 2009 Pocket Price Guide lists this engine in new condition at $1800.  This engine has its original shipping carton.  Please note that to prevent additional wear on the original shipping carton, at no additional cost to the buyer, I will construct an additional shipping carton to encase the original one.  Finally, with regard to shipping costs, while we charge a flat rate for shipping, if the actual shipping charges are more than one dollar less than the flat rate charges, a refund for the entire difference between the flat rate and the actual shipping charges will be made to the buyer. Also we do not charge anything for our time or materials for packing and handling.

The following text appears on the Lionel 28011's box:

"In the early 1940's the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad required a new locomotive to traverse the mountain barrier between the Virginian coal fields and the east coast.  The Lima Locomotive Works answered the call with the Allegheny 2-6-6-6 locomotive.  Weighing in at over a million pounds and having a maximum tractive power of 110,200 pounds, most railroaders agree that the Allegheny was the most powerful steam locomotive ever built.  As set forth on the Lionel box, 'Imagine seeing, hearing, and feeling this brute pulling a long consist on your Lionel railroad empire.'"
