Description
Brosimum alicastrum is a large, evergreen
tropical tree which is widely distributed in Mexico.
Its protein-rich seeds and leaves may be used for food and forage, and
several medicines and beverages can be made from parts of the tree.
Recent studies indicate that this trees increased use would be extremely
beneficial, and that the most immediate means for accomplishing this are the
collection and processing of seeds from natural forests and the
establishment of plantations for forage.

Description
Brosimum alicastrum trees grow to heights of 20-40 m; trunk may attain a
diameter of 1-1.5 m; bark is thin and contains a white, sticky latex.
Leaves are simple, alternate, with pointed stipules, 4-15 cm long and 2-8 cm
wide, ovate-lanceolate to ovate-elliptic, with a pointed apex, lustrous
green above and glaucous beneath; petioles 2-10 mm long.
Flowers in heads with many male flowers; male flowers have a rudimentary
perianth and 1 stamen; female flowers surrounded by male flowers.
Fruit a berry, 2-2.5 cm in diameter, with a thick, greenish-orange pericarp
and an agreeable sweet flavour; seeds 1.5-2 cm in diameter, surrounded by a
shiny seed coat.
These are shipped root ball not bare root. These are between 8-12 inches
high.

Our goal is to ship plants
within 3 – 5 days after we
receive payment 95% of
shipments are within that
time frame with over half
being less than 5 days.

Thursday, based on payment
date.

Be advised we ship a few
hundred plants a week and
your plant will be shipped
promptly as possible.

In hot and cold weather be
advised that damage will
occur to the plants if left
outside in the box, if you
will not be home for the
postal worker, please have
someone pick up your
plants.

We are not responsible for
heat or cold damage from
plants sitting outside your
domicile, or plants sitting
over the weekend due to mail
carrier issues and you will
need to follow the claim
details listed earlier.

We ship all plants Priority
Mail with Shipping
Conformation.
- NOTE it is against US
Law for the USPS Post office
to leave your package
outside your home if no one
is there to pickup, in this
cause you will need to file
a claim with your local post
office if they leave the
plant outside in the hot or
cold.
